ShanHai is my senior project. The word ShanHai means Mountain and Seas in Chinese. The project is inspired by an ancient Chinese book called Shanhai Jing, which records many strange monsters. Based on the texts of the book, I created my version of monsters. The use of colors in my artworks refers to Dunhuang frescoes in China. Combining the ancient Chinese painting style with pop culture and animation character design, this project shows an avant-garde, young, colorful presentation of ancient stories and monsters.
